How to Start

#1 - Register on University Athlete as soon as you start playing club volleyball.

#2 - Opt in to Recruiting on your Hudl Account. This is a new feature as of the 2023-2024 season. How to Opt into Hudl Recruiting.  Athletes can also continue to search and contact college recruiters directly through Hudl and manage their own recruiting journey.

#3 - Advocate for Yourself! There are thousands of student-athletes looking to play at the next level. Go to the programs website and fill out a perspective athlete form to let the coaches know you are interested in their school.

#4 - If you would like to play college volleyball, please let us know. That way we can advocate for you and be available to speak with college coaches who may be interested in recruiting you.

PlayNAIA.org - Helps future student-athletes discover and connect with NAIA schools and the official clearinghouse for NAIA eligibility. To play sports at an NAIA college or university, every student-athlete must register with the NAIA Eligibility Center.

NCAA Eligibility Center -  To compete at an NCAA Division I or II school, you need to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center. An account is the first step to becoming an NCAA student-athlete.

NWAC - The Northwest Athletic Conference is the parent organization for 36 community colleges located in Idaho, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Many players play 2 years in the NWAC, then transferred to a four-year university to complete their education.

Timeline by Year

Freshman Year

  • Create a list of your top universities/colleges you would like to attend

  • Fill out perspective athlete forms on school websites

  • Email the programs Head Coach with your desired major

  • Attend their summer camps

  • Follow those teams on social media

TIP: Use an Excel spreadsheet to track your correspondence to and from university/college programs. 

Sophomore Year

  • Create a highlight video of your play

  • Narrow down your list of universities/colleges

  • Complete Recruit Questionnaires on prospective university/college athletic websites

  • Make unofficial visits

TIP: Utilize your team Hudl video to create your highlight video.

Junior Year

  • Create an updated highlight video

  • Follow-up with coaches you have reached out to. Be sure to respond to every coach

  • Invite college coaches to watch you play in National Qualifiers

  • Ask coaches where you stand on their Recruits List

  • Make unofficial visits

  • Narrow down your list to your top 10 schools

Senior Year

  • Make official visits

  • Apply to your favorite universities/colleges

  • Follow-up with coaches. If you're not interested in their program, let them know ASAP.

  • Continue to train and keep your skills sharp

  • On October 1 of your senior year, submit FAFSA (financial aid form) to every university/college still on your list

  • Update your University Athlete profile with a C (Committed)

  • Request your summer workout schedule and Report Day details

  • Get in the best shape of your life before arriving on campus
