Leiko Yamauchi

Head Coach

Leiko brings 4 years of coaching experience and has worked with athletes at both the club and high school levels. She began coaching while still in high school, assisting with U12 teams at Ho’oikaika Volleyball Club in Hawai’i. During her time with Oly Reign, Leiko has served as an assistant coach for U13 Gold and as the head coach for U12 Gold. She also currently coaches the C-Team at Capital High School.

Leiko began playing volleyball at a young age with Ho’oikaika Volleyball Club in Hawai’i. She went on to play at Waimea High School on Kaua’i before continuing her volleyball career at The Evergreen State College in Olympia.

Leiko believes volleyball provides athletes with opportunities to grow far beyond their technical skills. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes communication, mental strength, grit, trust, and adaptability. Her goal is to create an environment where athletes develop not only as volleyball players, but also gain valuable life skills they can carry with them off the court.

What Leiko loves most about Oly Reign:

“I love the positive energy the club brings. They have mental toughness and speed and agility, which are amazing opportunities for the athletes’ mental and physical growth!”

Outside of volleyball, Leiko enjoys spending time with her family and pets, going on walks, biking, and playing volleyball with friends and family.

andrea wesche

Assistant Coach

This will be Andrea’s first formal coaching role, but athletics and volleyball have been a significant part of her life. Andrea was a three-sport varsity athlete, competing in volleyball as a middle blocker where she served as team captain and earned All-League honors. She continued her athletic career playing collegiate softball at Taylor University before injuries brought her playing career to an end.

Andrea also grew up with coaching as an important part of her life. Her mom played collegiate volleyball at Washington State University and went on to coach for 29 years, giving Andrea a firsthand look at the lasting impact a great coach and mentor can have on young athletes.

Her own experiences in athletics have shaped a coaching philosophy centered around developing the whole athlete and balancing performance with physical and mental well-being. Andrea believes coaches have an opportunity to be mentors who help athletes build confidence, navigate challenges, and recognize their potential. She strives to create an environment where players feel valued as individuals while continuing to grow as athletes.

What Andrea loves most about Oly Reign:

“What I love most about Oly Reign VBC is the culture of support and mentorship. Having had the opportunity to play with Leiko, I have experienced firsthand her humility, work ethic, talent, and investment in those around her. I am excited to learn from her and be part of a program that values athlete development, meaningful relationships, and the positive impact of great coaching.”

Outside of volleyball, Andrea is a professional photographer who enjoys traveling, crafting, and reading. Her favorite moments are spent exploring new places and making memories with her husband and their fur babies.
